Beauty of the Orient - Japan Time (Fosco Maraini)

Coming back from a gig a bit 'too underground for my taste, I feel the need to delight me with something sweet, beautiful.
I choose from my library "Japanese Time", by Fosco Maraini. A beautiful edition of 1957, given to me long ago by a person who taught me so much on the value of things from antiquity.
   The book begins like this.

"We must heed for a moment to some differences in the pillars
fundamental universes of Asia and the West. For us the beauty
has not I know that from basically sunny and bright, so celarla
would be a contradiction, it almost inevitably to a s'accompagna
need some brilliance .... The great thing not only has to shine, but
is linked by narrow, deep and ancient underground veins with the truth.
All our aesthetic thought from Aristotle to Croce, is about the
relations of beauty with truth. And so our cities are being proclaimed in
squares and boulevards, colonnades and buildings. Their beauty grows to
sun, it is built organically. They are daughters of the social and
technique, but also of the dialectic and geometry.
In Japan, beauty is initiatory, it is worth, is the prize
of a long and sometimes painful research, intuition is final, possession
jealous. The beauty who is beautiful in itself has already undergone a lot of spirit
vulgarity. The historical relationship of this concept, rather than
   real intellect, intuition leads us-lighting
(satori), taste (Shumi) and heart (kokoro). [In Japan] The
beautiful as always hidden, is necessarily aristocratic. The
Japanese cities are mere tools for life and work agencies
provisional serving their purely practical purposes. The beauty
course there, but we must first desire it, seek it, and perhaps
finally discover it will be given, then once conquered, it will
refreshes with unimagined sophistication elsewhere, including secluded gardens and
temples, or houses, where he really makes the perfect communion
man with his surroundings. E 'beauty as an island, time
whispered word, moment, is pure quality, which will then thrill of
   always eternal nostalgia. "

What better start to fall asleep on a night where you want do not want to give way to dreams.
